The project’s aim is to perform an instrumental transcommunication action working on rough footage taken during the actual performance and associate it with the audio/video footage taken during a December 2007 performance at the former Volterra psychiatric hospital. The performance was achieved using a shortwave radio receiver and video receiver recording images and signals from a dipole antenna installed in the building.
The video has been planned to be projected and elaborated in real time on three screens. Two screens are dedicated to images recorded in the former psychiatric hospital with particular emphasis to the video noise of the radio camera during the shooting until no clear image can be perceived. The other screen is dedicated to the live images of the radio camera during the performance. The live video are both projected on the central screen and impressed on the psychiatric hospital video. The camera works with the space and light sources which are part of the performance. Moreover the camera output is connected also to the audio mixer producing a sound source strictly connected to the images changing and the light changes of the camera itself. Every light interference of the camera will be perceived both in the projection and in the live sound.
